“I am a registered Genetic Counsellor and have been employed for the past 4 years by the Northern Ireland Regional Genetics Service and the Department of Clinical Genetics, Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, Dublin. My role in Northern Ireland was to coordinate a research study for children with rare genetic developmental disorders. In Dublin, I ran a Neurofibromatosis (NF) clinic, providing genetic counselling to patients and their families and organising onward referrals for screening. This post was funded by an NF charity and I enjoyed working with the charity members; providing information and support to patients and their families, attending conferences and meetings on their behalf and liaising with other professionals for their benefit. NF is a very similar genetic condition to Tuberous Sclerosis Complex and I look forward to working for the TSA and getting to know the patients and their families.”
